The plant «Glazovsky zavod Metallist» is a modern machine-building enterprise having highly qualified technical and engineering employees and workers and provided with high-performance equipment.

History and contemporaneity

The plant was founded in 1899 on the basis of handicraft department at Glazov town technical school.

In 1918 the department was transformed into mechanical-repair department for repairing agricultural equipment and manufacturing tinware and furniture.

In 1933 an artel «Metallist» was opened on the basis of the mechanical repair department and weighting facilities became the primary production.

During Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945 artel «Metallist» worked for the front intensely.

The production association «Proizvodstvennik» was organized in 1957, and new types of production were developed: locks and vices.

In 1960 the plant was assigned the name of «Metalware plant», in 1992 the plant was privatized and transformed into the open joint-stock company «Glazovsky zavod Metallist».

Currently the staff of the plant exceeds 800 workers. The primary types of production are machine and bench vices, anvils, hot water and steam calorifers, heating equipment, including electric heating devices. Padlocks and rim locks are being produced.

The enterprise has all the equipment necessary for manufacturing quality products. The preproduction stage is well-organized, and the tool production and technical and engineering employees are available. The Customer's will is a law for us.

Glazov sewing and garment factory was purchased by plant Metallist in 1995.

Now the garment production is accomplished in a separate shop. Working clothes designing and producing complies with all the requirements of specifications safety rules. All the garment production is certified in Ivanovo Labour Protection Institute.

Since 2002 the work is underway on certifying the production according to ISO 9001-2000, the procedeures completion is scheduled for the last half-year of 2004.

In 2003 the plant became the second enterprise in Udmurtia to be included into Fedeeral Register of reliable business partners. Certificate 00095-461 dated 16/10/2003.
